Half of homes sold on British Timken site in Duston

Construction work is progressing well at a 70-home development on the former British Timken site in Duston where half of the homes have now been sold.

Bellway Northern Home Counties is building a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes at Duston Gardens, off Bants Lane.

The developer is delivering 63 homes for private sale, while the remaining seven properties will be affordable housing for local people through rent or shared ownership.

Duston Gardens is part of a wider scheme transforming the former British Timken site, which closed in 2002.

Luke Southgate, Sales Director of Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Demand for homes at Duston Gardens has been strong from the outset. Before we even launched, we had enquiries from more than 500 people wanting to know more about the development.

“Since opening in January this year, we have now sold half of the 63 private homes we are delivering, on what is proving to be a much sought-after development.

“Part of the site has already been developed and features a popular pub called Poppy Field Farm which will be on the doorstep for new residents at Duston Gardens.”

Two detached showhomes – a three-bedroom Trent and a four-bedroom Radcliffe – are now open at the development.

Both are spacious family homes with front-facing living rooms, while to the back of the house the Trent has an open-plan kitchen/dining room and the Radcliffe a kitchen/dining/family room, both with French doors to the garden. The Radcliffe also has a separate office/study downstairs, while both homes have a master bedroom with en suite.

Luke said: “These two impressive homes have been expertly dressed by our interior design team to showcase the style and space associated with Bellway’s homes. Anyone who wonders what life might be like in one of our lovely homes at Duston Gardens should give us call and come along to experience it first-hand.”

As well as providing new homes in the area, Bellway has given £350 to the Grow Together Allotment in Berrywood Road, Duston, as a partnership project between Duston Parish Council and ‘Clubs for Young People’.

There is currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available at Duston Gardens, with prices starting from £275,000. Two-bedroom houses, as well as further three and four-bedroom designs, are coming soon.
