Springfield Properties will finalise its last homes this year

Springfield Properties, a leading housebuilder in Scotland, has finalised 25 more homes at its Muirhouse development in Edinburgh, in partnership with Housing Association, Dunedin Canmore.

The £23 million development is planning to complete its last homes this year, with 153 of the 202 already occupied.

Tom Leggeat, the Springfield Properties Group Partnership Director, said that Muirhouse is one of largest affordable housing projects and that it will offer to its future occupants “open spaces, scenic views and energy efficient houses”.

The homes are a mix of one bedroom cottage flats and two-bedroom terrace homes and are running on ‘Current Cost’ smart energy meters, which keep the costs low.

Dunedin Canmore Managing Director, Hazel Young, has said: This development features brilliant homes for social rent as well as attractive mid-market homes for people who are on a modest income. They are a great boost to the Muirhouse community and an excellent example of how we are tackling the shortage of energy-efficient, affordable homes in Edinburgh. I hope that the new tenants will be very happy in their new warm and secure homes.”

Together with Dunedin Canmore, Springfield Properties managed to transform former BT Training Centre into homes for people, being an “example of how partnership working can deliver high quality, energy efficient homes that are a welcome addition to the supply of affordable housing in Edinburgh,” said Kevin Stewart, the Minister for Local Government and Housing.

This development is part of a bigger plan to “accelerate and increase affordable housing supply across Scotland” and reach the 50,000 homes target that has been supported by a £3 billion investment by the Parliament, further added Kevin Stewart.
