Quaint English Village of Pulborough Sees Surge of Interest from Londoners

Village of Pulborough : QUINTESSENTIAL English villages outside of the traditional London commuter belt are seeing a surge in popularity as employers introduce hybrid working to accommodate a permanent switch to home working, according to research by TravelTime[1]. The news comes after Latimer Homes has reported large interest from Londoners at Brookfields.  Situated in the idyllic and historic village of Pulborough in West Sussex, which is in the top country hotspots of the past year following a 100% rise in sales[2], homes here offer a slice of country life.

Traditionally commuters have lived in areas within 40-minutes of the capital. However, as people lean towards working from home more often, the commute time is no longer expected to be the main priority when house hunting. Instead, buyers are focusing on space and being able to have access to countryside and green spaces at the weekends, which could see London’s commuter belt expand.

Brookfields, which is surrounded by the rolling Sussex countryside of the South Downs, close to the coast and within reach of London, is a perfect example of this recent shift. Unique in that it offers a huge range of homes – everything from attractive two-bedroom apartments to stunning five-bedroom family homes – the development promises to offer “Connected, contemporary country living”.

Victoria Finch, Sales Director at Latimer Homes, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest from people living in the traditional commuter belt with almost 50% of sales coming from areas in Surrey and London since we re-opened the development in June 2020 following the first lockdown.  These buyers are telling us they feel now they have the flexibility to move further, get closer to the coast and the countryside without necessarily having to commute every single day. The picturesque and quintessential villages that once fell a little further outside the traditional commuter zone are now an option for more people, and we expect them to see a real surge in popularity.

“Brookfields is very unique with such a variety of homes, both in terms of style and size, so we are hearing from many different types of interested buyers – everyone from first time buyers and couples with growing families to older couples looking to downsize.”

With a large well-known supermarket around the corner, and plenty of local amenities including primary schools, health centres, traditional country pubs, boutique shops and cafes in Pulborough’s bustling and charming high street, Brookfields offers both convenience and a more relaxed pace of life ideal for families and downsizers alike.

The new homes are just a 20-minute walk to Pulborough Station, which offers two direct trains to London Victoria every hour taking 1 hour 20 minutes, and puts Gatwick Airport just 45 minutes away. On your doorstep you will also find the vast West Sussex countryside, with South Downs National Park nearby as well as historic stately homes and Sussex castles, nature reserves, National Trust sites and famous vineyards.

Enjoying a leafy location which backs onto fields, Brookfields offers a wide range of different homes. Two-bed properties include apartments and houses while three-bed homes include houses and bungalows. Additionally, there are four and five-bedroom houses available. All offer a fantastic variety of layouts, and promise something for every generation and stage in life. The houses have gardens and versatile, flexible rooms for family activities and quiet corners for privacy, while bungalows are adaptable to changing needs, and apartments are equipped with efficient use of space and clever storage.

All homes are designed with style, comfort and quality in mind and feature high-specification finishing touches. Stepping inside, the airy and inviting homes are all neutrally decorated allowing buyers to personalise them with their own creativity as they please.
