Rotpunkt, award-winning designer and manufacturer of climate friendly German Kitchen furniture, is pleased to report a consistently healthy turnover of 100 million EUR in 2023, along with new geographical and commercial growth markets, and more value per kitchen for the retailer following the company’s latest finance report at year end…

Healthy annual turnover: As the KBB market continues to navigate the UK economy, significant environmental change, and associated manufacturing costs, Rotpunkt Küchen has achieved a healthy turnover of 100 million EUR for two consecutive years. Andreas Wagner and Heinz-Jürgen Meyer, Managing Partners at Rotpunkt Küchen explain, “In view of the extremely difficult market conditions that followed the enhanced demand of COVID-19, this is a very satisfactory result.” Sven Herden, Managing Director of Sales & Marketing agrees and adds, “Of course we would like to achieve more growth in turnover but, given the widely reported economic downturn and inflation, I feel these results are realistic for the beginning of the year.” In fact, the company’s turnover has steadily risen over the last 5-10 years, seeing an increase of over 35 million euros when compared to 2018 figures at 65 million EUR.

More value per kitchen: Helping to create a positive financial trend among its network of UK retailers, Rotpunkt is pleased to report that its range of furniture offers more value per kitchen and higher sales commission. Although this rise is not reflected in the volume of cabinets produced last year, retailers are reportedly selling more Rotpunkt furniture and enjoying greater margins and planning options that go beyond the kitchen space. Emphasising the company’s core philosophy where the home represents the ‘centre of life’ for many, Rotpunkt design and make furniture for the kitchen, utility, laundry room, and walk-in dressing room to furnish the entire home and allow customers to compare or contrast with the cabinetry, worktops, handles, and integrated lighting.

Modernisation vs. Employee gains: The continued rise in materials and energy prices continued to challenge the company’s business operations in 2023. However, Rotpunkt was able to limit these amplified costs with moderate price adjustments so it could maintain its standing as a strong multi-million-pound company with positive earnings and a continued path to modernisation. With continued investment in a new Warehousing & Logistics building, and also in machinery, logistics, its vehicle fleet, the digitalisation of production and business processes, as well as social issues for the Rotpunkt workforce. In December 2023, the company is proud to employ a broad mix of 364 men and women at each site in Bünde and Preußisch Oldendorf, and maintain its important reputation as an employer of choice in the region.

Growth in France: Generating the majority of sales from countries in western Europe, Rotpunkt is pleased to report its export ratio remains at 80%. The Dutch market continues to be a strong supplier of Rotpunkt furniture with sales generating the same results as last year, and the same applies to the Scandinavian market, which is heavily supporting the brand within the contracts market. Interestingly, France emerges as the biggest growth area for Rotpunkt, demonstrating extremely high growth, and this is bolstered by new developments in Austria and Switzerland.

Commitment to the British Isles: From Great Britain to the Channel Islands, business across the British Isles has been faced with particularly high inflation rates, when compared to the rest of Europe and these increases have slowed the level of growth in the UK. In response, Rotpunkt will invest in its sales and development team to promote a greater level of engagement from new and existing customers in the British Isles. Given that the UK is regarded as one of the largest markets in Europeit seems only logical to accelerate investment across these sales territories. For instance, in January 2024 Rotpunkt UK appointed John McWhinnie, an experienced sales representative to oversee customers in the north of the British Isles and create new sales opportunities across northern England and Scotland.

Trade show benefits: Part of the Küchenmeile, Hausmesse, the in-house exhibition held annually in September is the most important event of the year for Rotpunkt, and the company will continue to do its part to further strengthen global relations for both brand and industry following each Küchenmeile. Additionally, other trade shows across Europe such as kbb Birmingham (March 2024), Esprit Meubles in Paris (November 2024) and Kitchen Living Trends in Salzburg (May 2025) will allow Rotpunkt to present its products in a country-specific manner and be supported by local sales teams to create new contacts and strengthen ongoing partnerships.

2024 outlook: Collectively, the senior management team says, “The market is tough right now and in the short term, forecasts show this financial year won’t get any easier. However, we can still offer a positive outlook as 2024 has just begun and currently, there is a good build-up of orders, so we are confident over the coming months.” Sven Herden adds, “At the moment, it is important to maintain Rotpunkt’s good economic position, strengthen existing partnerships and take a closer look at choice suppliers and new business connections. However, risk assessments of this kind are not exclusive to Rotpunkt, and retailers are also looking closely at who they can rely on.”

Unusual kitchen cupboard essentials to clean glass https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/home-decor/unusual-kitchen-cupboard-essentials-to-clean-glass/ https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/home-decor/unusual-kitchen-cupboard-essentials-to-clean-glass/#respond Tue, 16 Jan 2024 09:42:18 +0000 https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/?p=22339 Brits are being told of unusual foods from kitchen cupboards which will keep their windows and mirrors sparkling. …]]>

Brits are being told of unusual foods from kitchen cupboards which will keep their windows and mirrors sparkling.

Glass experts at MeandMyGlass.co.uk have named the seven unusual food items which can be used to clean glass and remove smudge marks including ketchup and tea bags.

Tea bags have natural cleaning products great for wiping away any smudge marks from glass surfaces.

Lemon juice and fizzy drinks contain acid which breaks down dirt and stains on mirrors and windows.

A raw potato or a slice of white bread are also unusual food items which are great for wiping away stains and spot marks on glass.

John Cutts, founder of MeandMyGlass.co.uk said: “You don’t need to buy any expensive cleaning products to remove smudges, dirt and grime from your glass windows and mirrors.

“Instead, there are lots of food items sitting in the back of your kitchen cupboards that are really effective as natural cleaning products.

“Use cornstarch mixed with cold water to remove more stubborn marks on glass and tea bags rubbed across the surface will remove smudges.

“Ketchup is another kitchen staple which acts as a glass cleaner – just let the condiment sit for a couple of minutes on any stains and wipe clean with a damp cloth.”

Here are the unusual kitchen cupboard essentials to clean glass:

 1. Lemon juice

Dilute the juice of a lemon with water or white vinegar to create a DIY glass cleaner. The acid in the lemon will break down any stains or marks on glass to make it shine. Cutting a fresh lemon in half and gently rubbing it over glass will also act as a cleaner.

 1. Cornstarch

Cornstarch is a great ingredient to polish glass and windows. The small granules act as a natural abrasive, and when mixed with cold water the solution can be applied to the glass with a sponge to remove any smudges.

 1. Tea bags

Natural cleaning properties in tea makes it a great product for removing smudges from glass. Seep a few tea bags in boiling water and let it sit until cool. Rub the tea bag across a glass surface and wipe clean with a microfibre cloth after sitting for five minutes.

 1. Ketchup

The acidity in ketchup can break down grime and marks on a glass surface. Smudge in ketchup directly onto the glass and allow it to sit for a couple of minutes. Gently rub the condiment across any smudge marks and wipe clean with a damp, soft cloth.

 1. Fizzy drinks

Pour a small amount of the fizzy drink over a glass surface and use a soft sponge to spread over any smudges. Using a clean sponge, wipe away the drink and dry with a clean cloth to prevent any sticky spots. The acidity and carbonation in fizzy drinks acts as a useful natural cleaning product.

 1. Potatoes

Take a raw potato and cut in half to then wipe over any glass surface. Use a bit of pressure on any stubborn stains and let the juice and starch from the potato sit for five to ten minutes. With a damp microfiber cloth wipe away the residue.

 1. White bread

Soft white bread is a great hack to remove smudges from glass. Simply rub a slice over any dirty areas and the grime will lift off. Wipe away any crumbs or residue with a soft cloth for a streak-free finish.

Brandt Design Deep Purple Character in Heritage Furniture https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/residential/brandt-design-deep-purple-character-in-heritage-furniture/ Mon, 01 Aug 2022 08:13:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=17481 Leading UK interior design specialists, Brandt Design, add the intensity of colour to one of its Heritage kitchens for…]]>

Leading UK interior design specialists, Brandt Design, add the intensity of colour to one of its Heritage kitchens for a period property in the seaside town of Broadstairs, East Kent. Designed to exude confidence and high character, this deliciously deep purple kitchen truly reflects the homeowner’s lifestyle and love for being creative.

“We pride ourselves on being original by design and we were instantly inspired by this artistic brief for a hardworking kitchen dining space that has dual access and entry to the garden. In fact, the project in Broadstairs presented us with a unique challenge, as we needed to work within the parameters of the period property that has existing architectural features, an inflexible blueprint and limited natural light,” said Julia Steadman, Commercial Director.

Brandt Design therefore chose a parallel layout to allow the kitchen furniture to work in tandem with a series of freestanding appliances. Built-in models would evoke a more contemporary look not in keeping with the classic ebb and flow of the kitchen space, and so a 50s retro-style Smeg fridge, Bertazzoni range cooker and AGA cast-iron cooker in stylish British Racing Green are chosen for authenticity.

To accentuate the homeowners love of cooking, bespoke Heritage Furniture by Brandt Design was the natural choice thanks to its in-frame cabinetry, ability to be hand painted and traditional-style toe-kicks that feature a recessed plinth at the base of the cabinets to look like independent pieces of furniture. Saturated in colour, this rich and luxurious deep purple is Pelt by Farrow & Ball, a bold finish that in daylight reveals more blue undertones and in darker lit areas, it can look almost black.

The need for ample storage is critical in any kitchen and in this case, Brandt Design ensured precise space planning of the furniture in terms of layout, proportions, and sight lines. Julia adds, “Discovering what our clients love to cook and how regularly they entertain at home is a key part of our design process, as we often take this time to suggest added extras like a dedicated coffee station, walk-in pantry or breakfast cupboard to help streamline daily life. Needing to be sensitive to existing architectural features, we recommended using a portion of redundant space behind the kitchen wall and turn it into a practical l-shaped food store complete with three custom shelves and enough space for a toaster.”

The homeowner balances her busy workload and love of cooking with fresh ingredients from this very kitchen, and her fondness for traditional French cuisine is echoed throughout the room thanks to her eclectic mix of colours, country-style décor and choice of antique hardware. There is also an al fresco patio area to support the formal dining space in the main kitchen, so there is plenty of seating space for friends and family, even a working lunch if she wants to collaborate with fellow artists on future community projects she might have.

A large still life balances the overmantel and splashback above the AGA, to bring symmetry to the wash zone on the opposite side of the room, featuring a generous Provincial ceramic sink, Victorian-style Ludlow Bridge taps in Antique Bronze and Swich water filter: all by Abode. A fully-integrated Siemens dishwasher is located to the left of the sink, which lends modern convenience without detracting from the classic furniture and period-style accessories.

Rotpunkt Launches New Pavilo Shaker-Style Modern Door https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/residential/rotpunkt-launches-new-pavilo-shaker-style-modern-door/ Mon, 18 Jul 2022 07:56:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=17396 Rotpunkt, award winning designer and leading manufacturer of climate friendly German Kitchen furniture introduce a new and timeless…]]>

Rotpunkt, award winning designer and leading manufacturer of climate friendly German Kitchen furniture introduce a new and timeless version of the classic Shaker-style door with the launch of Pavilo: a modern interpretation of the popular Shaker furniture design movement.

Designed with a modern cassette front that is rounded on the inside and out, Pavilo is available in all matt lacquer finishes including the new Just Grey colour option and bestselling Black, Carbon, Lava, Umbra and Daylight Grey. Beautiful and practical, this subtle door is designed to not only create a soft and harmonious look, but also reduce the number of surfaces to help minimise the accumulation of unwanted dirt, dust, grease and debris synonymous with kitchen living.

Matt Phillips, Head of UK Operations at Rotpunkt says, “Shaker-style interiors are ultra-versatile, as they effortlessly ride the line between traditional and contemporary ideas. Designed to evolve the traditional look of a timber in frame kitchen and recreate 18th century design elements so they can sit in the modern home, Pavilo gives a new dimension to the constantly evolving industrial-style kitchen, which is in keeping with today’s modern home and lifestyle.”

When combined with natural timber elements like the new Memory RI vertical door in New Forest Oak, Pavilo brings a fresh new energy to the hybrid kitchen space, which seemingly now is both classic and contemporary. Added to that, “Big ticket items like the kitchen are helping UK homeowners to reduce their environmental impact and live greener lifestyles. Pavilo answers the call for climate-friendly kitchen design, constructed from our Greenline BioBoard Gen2, which is a sustainable chipboard that consists of up to 90% recycled wood” adds Matt.

The Pavilo kitchen concept features the following NEW innovations by Rotpunkt:

Pavilo: Blending classic style with contemporary comfort, this new Shaker-style door is designed with a modern cassette front with rounded edges inside and out. Available in all 52 matt lacquer colours, Pavilo is the perfect foundation to get creative with the hardware too, just like the new 499 Black T-bar style knob handle shown.

Just Grey: This new colour is 1 of 14 shades of grey by Rotpunkt, and it works harmoniously with timber finishes like the pictured wood panelling, which is set within the island unit. Behind, the wet area is framed by two designed-in tall units with a mixture of open and closed storage and built-in appliances to create the ultimate compact cook zone.

Memory RI: Bringing the tactile warmth of timber into the kitchen, this new door is designed with a contemporary reeded structure with high-definition vertical grooves. Available in three oak finishes, matt black and a ready to paint option, the textured effect of Memory helps emphasise the generous overhead wall units to make the back wall feel spacious, despite its small footprint.

Smart-ready LED lighting: A modern and minimalist pendant light over the island brings illumination to this calming working space as it can be hung up to 1450mm from the ceiling. Available in 1200mm and 1500mm lengths to suit your style, now home chefs can enjoy the latest in smart-enabled kitchen lighting and control it using a digital assistant on a tablet or smartphone for the ultimate in hands-free living.

Climate friendly: All Rotpunkt furniture is designed and created under the company’s new ‘Together to zero’ climate strategy to reduce carbon emissions at every stage of manufacture. The Pavilo door is crafted from Greenline BioBoard Gen2, the sustainable, green and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chipboards, which consists of up to 90% recycled wood without sacrificing on quality. It is further enriched by the new Memory RI door, an FSC® Certified vertical groove door that carries the mark of responsible forestry.

Colour in the Kitchen Made Easy with Brandt Design https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/residential/colour-in-the-kitchen-made-easy-with-brandt-design/ Fri, 20 May 2022 08:23:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=17001 Leading interior design specialists, Brandt Design, shine a light on ‘colour in the kitchen’ as style and application are redefined…]]>

Leading interior design specialists, Brandt Design, shine a light on ‘colour in the kitchen’ as style and application are redefined for a new generation of homeowners.

Albeit extremely personal, colour in the kitchen is now giving way to a variety of new fashion-favourites and this is providing huge scope for contemporary and classic kitchen schemes where colour is helping to create certain types of atmospheres to suit the space and occupant.

To give you the inside track, Julia Steadman, Commercial Director at Brandt Design gives you her advice on the latest must-have kitchen colours, which are defining the UK home in 2022:

PALETTE: High pigment colours are proving most popular right now, with greens and blues being used to modernise the classic kitchen and add depth to more modern schemes. Ultra-matt shades of grey and black are the go-to in sophisticated contemporary kitchens whereas deep shades of plum and indigo blue are elevating raw materials like quartz worktops and brass hardware with a strong base colour.

Try to work with the natural day light too, as this will help to balance cool and warm colours in the room, as well as alter the mood when the space is subject to varying stages of light throughout the day and year. I think we live in a visual age with a much-faster trend cycle than previous generations, which has led to greater interplay between interiors and fashion, and this has definitely led to popular runway colours making a strong impression in the home.

FINISH: The painted kitchen is enjoying a renaissance, as homeowners are enjoying the benefits of rich colour in the latest low VOC paints and textural effect that comes with painted wood grain. Our solid wood Heritage Furniture is a natural partner to leading paint specialists like Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Mylands. You can also introduce colour on your appliances with the addition of a bold range cooker, or how about a striking splashback or worktop that is designed to coordinate with or contrast against the furnitureFor the modernist, ultra matt contemporary colours are being used to absorb the light and provide a modern look and feel, as well as introduce and play with different patterns, prints and colour-blocking for maximum effect.

METHOD: With so many options out there, how do you pick a colour? Given that colour is an integral part of our lives, I think that we are often drawn to certain colours in our clothes home décor, so having an expert’s eye can help you establish what colours suit your kitchen and the direction it faces. For example, if you have a North facing kitchen, the colour grey can look bluer or more purple and it will have a completely different feel to a sunnier South facing room. Having a site visit will allow your designer to factor these outside influences and take inspiration from the rest of your home to be in keeping with your personal style and taste.

Colour has always been a pivotal part of the design conversation, and as the market is increasingly keen to explore how to create the right look and feel at home, it will always come down to the style, layout and finish of furniture when introducing colour in the kitchen.

LIGHTING: Colour is contributing to a greater understanding of how all the elements of a kitchen need to work together for optimum effect and kitchen lighting is a tried and tested way of highlighting the beauty of today’s colour palette. It can also be seamlessly integrated within the latest display furniture so that you can choose a warm or cool light to suit your mood. With so many options, materials and colours to choose from it has never been easier to create a unique tailormade kitchen which will support your family throughout every stage of life.

Daval Custom-Made Mayfair & Finsbury Kitchen, Bar & Laundry https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/residential/daval-custom-made-mayfair-finsbury-kitchen-bar-laundry/ Wed, 18 May 2022 08:41:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=16994 Award-winning British designer and manufacturer of custom fitted furniture, Daval, sensitively fuse the very best in traditional style with…]]>

Award-winning British designer and manufacturer of custom fitted furniture, Daval, sensitively fuse the very best in traditional style with contemporary living at The Quarry House, a unique renovation in rural West Yorkshire.

The combination of the ultra-luxe Mayfair furniture in supermatt Charcoal finish alongside Finsbury, in opposing Silver and Frost White gives a truly architectural finish to the ground floor while ensuring the newly fitted kitchen, bar and laundry room, is in-keeping with the rest of the property. James Bodsworth, Design Director at Daval says, “It was an absolute delight to work with our clients on The Quarry House, a stunning detached house which has been lovingly restored and extended, complete with bespoke Daval furniture. The property is nestled in expansive grounds by the side of a working quarry and enjoys panoramic views of the Yorkshire countryside. Built using iconic Yorkshire stone from the quarry itself, the house blends heritage style and modern country.”

The design brief was for a bright, modern yet timeless kitchen that was spacious and functional. The clients wanted it to flow effortlessly into the sitting area, which is slightly elevated to enjoy the beautiful views. A large, functional granite-topped island was at the top of the wish list for entertaining family and friends informally and the Daval design team also needed to incorporate a mint green Aga as a main feature, alongside a conventional oven, induction hub and an integrated larder cupboard for ample storage.

James continues, “On our first site visit, we noticed there was a long and narrow corridor connecting the kitchen to the sunroom and suggested that incorporating a bespoke home bar with an integrated wine cooler and bottle storage would bring the space to life, giving it a specific purpose. We finished the back wall of the bar with an antique brass effect mirror that runs the length of the cabinetry and makes the space look and feel much larger than it actually is, which is a great design trick to trick the eye and add a luxe element.”

Daval Custom-Made Mayfair & Finsbury Kitchen, Bar & Laundry

Simon Bodsworth, Managing Director at Daval adds, “We are always keen to bring our signature quality and service to residential projects so that we can create made-to-measure, made-to-order furniture which suits everyday life. This is particularly helpful for character properties and conversions as there is no such thing as a standard size or shape and it is so important to complement the existing architectural structure.”

With this year’s trend for refined country living and extra texture in the kitchen, the combination of Finsbury and Mayfair furniture by Daval brings a fresh, modern dynamic to the Quarry House. Storage is a key consideration in a blended living space and personalized solutions are big news this year, with a strong emphasis on high-function larders which keep your essentials in an easy-to-access location.

The open-plan feel of The Quarry House is enhanced with handleless runs of units for clean lines in high-traffic areas and brass industrial-style handles on the island unit, the bar cupboards and the laundry zone bring an individual edge. As wellness and hygiene are growing trends in the busy kitchen living space, the Finsbury overhead units in Silver are the ideal choice as they feature the company’s award-winning anti-bacterial finish, boosting cleanliness and adding visual depth to the grey and white scheme.

Bespoke Kitchens for Grainger Build-to-Rent Scheme in Birmingham https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/residential/bespoke-kitchens-for-grainger-build-to-rent-scheme-in-birmingham/ Mon, 16 May 2022 07:45:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=16957 Deanestor, one of the UK’s leading furniture and fitout specialists to the build-to-rent sector, has completed a contract…]]>

Deanestor, one of the UK’s leading furniture and fitout specialists to the build-to-rent sector, has completed a contract to provide bespoke, contemporary kitchens for a new Grainger scheme in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

Awarded by main contractor Clegg Construction, the contract for Gilder’s Yard was for 158 high specification kitchens which were manufactured and installed by UK-based Deanestor.

Developed for Grainger plc – the UK’s largest listed residential landlord, Gilder’s Yard comprises the renovation of a three-storey Grade II listed former jewellery factory and the construction of three further blocks to provide high quality one- and two-bedroom apartments for rent, and 10,000sqft of commercial space on the ground floor. The scheme was designed by BPN Architects.

There were three kitchen configurations – island, L-shaped and single wall – and two colour palettes for the cabinets – platinum white and graphite grey, both with white quartz worktops and contrasting stainless steel handles.

The ‘loft’ finish and open plan island kitchen layout were developed for the apartments in the listed building with the dark grey units designed to complement the exposed brickwork and surfaces.

According to Josh Barker, Development Manager at Grainger, “This was a complex regeneration project which is breathing new life into a historic building in Birmingham’s thriving Jewellery Quarter. Gilder’s Yard will provide much needed high quality, contemporary homes for rent which incorporate traditional heritage features of the site.”

“We recognise the importance of quality, durable kitchens that are designed to meet the requirements of our residents, and we are pleased that the Deanestor team helped us to achieve this at Gilder’s Yard.”

Tim Croft, Project Manager for Clegg Construction, said “The interior design of this scheme was a prominent part of the architecture and was designed to complement the retained exterior which has large picture windows that increase visibility of the internal features such as the kitchens. The new build wings are a modern interpretation of the listed elevation in fenestration and materials.”

“We were confident in Deanestor’s ability to deliver the quality required for the project and in a short timeframe. Their design team performed well with a good level of detailing and technical expertise. They were able to accommodate variations in layout whilst achieving as much standardisation for manufacturing efficiency as possible. The kitchens have been finished to a high standard.”

Deanestor supplied and installed integrated appliances for each kitchen – tall fridge freezer, dishwasher, electric hob, and built-in oven. There is also a freestanding washer dryer and a ceiling-mounted extractor, with pull-up, down draught extractors for the island kitchens.

Deanestor works for some of the UK’s leading private residential developers on major schemes, offering bespoke joinery and fitout for high specification kitchens and bedroom furniture.

Built to last, cabinets are crafted using robust glue and dowel constructions. There is a wide choice of contemporary materials, finishes and colours, including gloss or matt, vinyl or laminate finishes, integrated appliances, and worktops such as laminates, marble, granite, quartz, and solid surface materials. These are installed by Deanestor’s site teams ready for M&E connections as part of the FF&E package for a full turnkey service.

Deluxe Kitchen with Hidden Bootroom by Brandt Design https://www.padmagazine.co.uk/luxury-living/deluxe-kitchen-with-hidden-bootroom-by-brandt-design/ Mon, 25 Apr 2022 09:28:00 +0000 https://padmagazine.co.uk/?p=16534 Leading British interior design specialists, Brandt Design, ensure the ultimate in contemporary family living with this deluxe open-plan…]]>

Leading British interior design specialists, Brandt Design, ensure the ultimate in contemporary family living with this deluxe open-plan kitchen with hidden bootroom for a beautiful family home in Hertfordshire.

Julia Steadman, Commercial Director at Brandt Design says: “Creating a signature style that plays to a very specific family-dynamic, is increasingly important in kitchen design as we adjust to changing lifestyles and new spatial layouts on the ground floor. We are firm believers in ‘design longevity’ and take pride in planning and installing bespoke kitchens, which transcend the latest interior trends and enhance life at home. This fantastic project recently designed and installed by us, is the result of a complete redesign of the ground floor, where a brand-new kitchen and hidden bootroom now becomes the foundation of the entire downstairs living space. The combination of our Urban Furniture in Velvet Blue and Polar White helps to define as well as unify each room for the ultimate in fresh, easy living.”

Home to a busy household with school-age children and large family dog, the Brandt design team needed to make the kitchen living space dual purpose, creating a show-style kitchen in the main areas for the height of indoor-outdoor entertaining, alongside a more understated design in the bootroom where the focus is function over form. This said, both spaces offer an element of ‘hidden design’ as the run of furniture makes way for an expanse of storage that is only seen if needed.

In the contemporary kitchen, entertaining at home is made easy with a bank of built-in ovens, integrated hob and a super-size fridge freezer complete with luxury wine cooler. An impressive central island unit just steps from the palatial garden outside is topped with premium Caesarstone worktops, which are made by Brandt Design at its Bespoke Stone Fabrication Centre. Adding a modern feel, the stone worktops provide a direct contrast between the more classic herringbone parquet flooring and monolithic kitchen island with white Kartell bar stools.

Custom storage is built around the appliances to capitalise on every inch of available space, and the well-defined wet zone with matt black hardware, stone surfaces and ambient lighting help to localise the cook and prep areas. A unique pop-up power solution integrated into the island worktop adds value, creating another access point to plug in small appliances when baking or preparing a large meal. Plus, it perfectly coordinates with essential components for a truly minimalist vibe. The luxury side-by-side fridge freezer with integrated wine cooler heightens the level of sophistication and is cleverly designed on the periphery of the kitchen to ensure easy access from the dining area, and safe distance from the cook zone.

Behind a wall of white to the left, lies a hidden Bootroom with wall-to-wall storage, which is designed in a galley-style arrangement to provide a more practical option in such a high traffic, all-purpose area. The run of dark blue furniture creates extra capacity for food storage, and space for noisy laundry appliances that are less practical in an open-plan kitchen layout. Brandt Design also factored in how the family would use the extra utility zone going from inside to out, and therefore decided to integrate some bench seating on the opposite side including overhead compartments and space to hang coats, leisurewear, sports kits, school bags and keep shoes and trainers tidied away.

BA, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of factory-built, bespoke and made-to-measure kitchens and bedrooms and specialist components, identify the latest interior trends helping to shape the UK kitchen market in 2022-23.

Nuala Brady, Group Marketing Manager at BA said: “We are noting that the latest developments in kitchens are placing an emphasis on high-quality convenience and modern originality, and this has revealed a new desire for expedient furniture design that is transformative. Well-considered space planning is therefore centre stage right now, with custom furniture and bespoke design services taking the rather dated idea of four-wall kitchen design to new levels of open-plan living, which is discreet and perfectly styled to suit the individual and elevate both home and lifestyle. Colourful cabinetry and classic contemporary design continues to win-out as ‘vintage’ becomes a designer term in the modern kitchen and authenticity never outdates. Marrying two styles together to create a modern take on a timeless interior style and/or architecture, this shift towards eclectic kitchen interiors has stemmed from the markets love of industrial-style where mixed materials, opposing interior design styles and strong, defining hardware remain a firm favourite.”

BA share its thoughts on the ‘Top Kitchen Trends’ for 2022-23:

Styles: Furniture is now riding the line between traditional and contemporary design, and the iconic Shaker-style period has proved its worth, inspiring new options where the door is being used to add character and define the overall look and feel of the space. This has led to new in-frame style doors growing in popularity, with varying degrees of ornamentation added to the rail profiles to create classic square panel doors, designs with mock and narrow frames, through to V groove detailing to replicate a five-piece door. The latest handleless designs are also proving successful, especially in multi-generational households where ergonomic layouts and streamlined furniture solutions are called on to create high-functioning kitchen living spaces that are distinctly discreet.

Colours & Finishes: Heritage colours that are natural, earthy and sophisticated will continue to grow in popularity this year, as more UK homeowners look to unify both home and garden space. Trending colours continue to embrace varying shades of green and blue, partnered with accents of white and grey and the latest contemporary foils. In fact, foil finishes are also demonstrating huge value in today’s kitchen, offering anti-bacterial qualities that are fully equipped to withstand modern day life.

Layout: Open plan living continues to champion the broken plan layout, presenting a more flexible ground floor way of living as more and more homeowners want a kitchen that doubles as a social hub whilst retaining a dedicated space for cooking and dining. As a result, a need for practical island solutions like flush-mounted hobs and inset sinks continue to provide clutter free surfaces, as well as key design features like split level breakfast bars and essential low-level storage being used to separate the living area from the main kitchen. We believe this increased demand for practical storage in the home is a direct result of open plan living now being central to all aspects of kitchen design, with many customers erring towards seamless layouts that help to avoid negative space and maximise on the kitchen’s working layout.

Finishing touches: Widely considered as the jewels of the kitchen, beautiful hardware like sinks, taps and designer handles are helping to define certain styles and create that all important signature style. Accessories are now elevating the latest handled kitchen designs, with standout metallic finishes like antique brass, nickel, matt black and wood being designed-in to evoke a heightened sense of luxury and personalised feel.
