JF Finnegan has been shortlisted in two different categories as a part of this year’s Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards, or CCISY Awards. The design and build contract company based in Sheffield has been shortlisted for the two awards, with the winners announced at a ceremony taking place at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield on the 13th October.
The CCISY Awards are held each year in order to showcase and celebrate the high quality of work that is carried out by all sectors in the region’s construction industry. The event also aims to recognise the widest possible range of excellence in shown in this industry across South Yorkshire.
JF Finnegan has been shortlisted for the Project of the Year Under £5 million and for Project of the Year Over £5 million. The work carried out by the design and build contract for the first award was carried out on behalf of Haworth Group at the Advanced Manufacturing Park on Plots 7 & 8. For the latter of the awards, JF Finnegan’s work on the Sir Henry Institute at the University of Sheffield.
The Advanced Manufacturing Park is home to a range of different high profile and world-class employers such as Boeing and Rolls Royce. The University of Sheffield is thought to be the centre of advanced manufacturing in the UK. The construction programme took 26 weeks and allowed the design team to value engineer a wide range of aspects of the finishes in order to make sure that the high-quality expectations of the employer are met while also remaining within the planned budget.
The Sir Henry Royce Institute features three units and is the second phase of the new Advanced Manufacturing Research Campus 2 under development by the University of Sheffield. The construction project is taking place in order to make the most of the campus boulevard and will engage building users and passers-by by sowing their workshop activities in picture frame elevations. The construction work for this project began at the start of October last year and all three of the units that form the development by JF Finnegan are expected to be complete in March next year.
